Led by A/Prof. Changhai Ding, six Chinese PhD candidates from the Menzies Research Institute Tasmania participated in the Five Minute Science Competition hosted by the Australian Chinese Association for Biomedical Sciences (ACABS) at Alfred Center, Melbourne on June 9th 2013.
Menzies Chinese PhD students had an impressive performance in the competition with their 60 peers from institutions around Melbourne including University of Melbourne, Monash University, RMIT University, CSIRO, Water and Eliza Hall Institute and Monash Institute of Medical Research.
Yanlin Hu, Menzies PhD candidate, won a second prize with her presentation ‘Role of Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) in Neurogenesis’.
After the competition, A/Prof. Ding was invited to talk about NHMRC fellowship application. He offered advice on research career development and shared his experience in successful application for NHMRC early to mid- Career Fellowships. The event was successfully wrapped up with a networking session for future collaborations.
