Dear ACABS members and friends,
We are almost into the 2nd quarter of 2016, with Easter holiday arriving now!
This year we had a well start, with most of us having just completed the important grant applications. Now we can spare more time on the development of our association.
ACABS has always been committing to facilitate the collaborative research amongst its members and associates. Its network has been continuously extending. Its activities have also been expanded into the promotion of biomedical R & D and translational research. All together we have aimed to bring career and personal development opportunities to our members. Among many significant events, ACABS has successfully organised the 5th ACBRC conference in 2015. Importantly, young scholars and students were not only encouraged to participate the scientific program, but also involved in organising the conference.
We have recently held our AGM 2014-2015, with many issues been discussed extensively. We really appreciate the constructive feedback and suggestions from the members. A lot of planning has taken place in recent weeks, we will keep you informed on those developments. We are grateful to all executives and members for supporting the growth of ACABS and are looking forward to seeing even more developments in the association in 2016. As usual, at the AGM we presented a special Community Service Award, this time to Dr He Hong in recognition her significant contribution in servicing and promoting ACABS.
The priority at moment is to organize and conduct presidential election. An election committee has established to organise and oversee the forthcoming election. The committee will be led by Prof Duan Wei with members of Prof Xiaojun Du, Prof Jiming Ye, Dr Edwin Yan and Dr Wang Die. The election is anticipated to take place in April 2016.
We would like to publicly thank and acknowledge the friends and institutions that provide great supports to our association. One of our key supporters, the Chinese Consulate in Melbourne has supported us for many years and will continue the endorsement, sponsorship and guidance toward to us.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our best wishes for you and your families a happy, safe and restful Easter holiday.
Dr Ruchong Ou
President of ACABS
