Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to the 8th Victorian Chinese PhD Students and Young Scholars (VACPS) Research Symposium, the annual event hosted by the Chinese Association of Professionals and Scholars (CAPS), Australia, which will be held at La Trobe University on 29th November 2014.
CAPS Australia established in 2006 is the prime organization that represents the interests of Chinese research students and young scholars who live and work in Victoria. It is now a leading organization in academic communication amongst local Chinese researchers and plays an outstanding role in research and communication activities between Australia and China.
The annual VACPS Research Symposium is the flagship activity of CAPS Australia. From 2007, the symposium attracted over 60 paper submissions for oral/poster presentations and more than 150 participants each year. The participants include PhD students, young scholars and distinguished professors from universities and institutes, joining together to share and to celebrate research achievements.
This year, the symposium is supported by La Trobe University and the Education Office, Consulate General of P.R. China in Melbourne. Fortunately, we have confirmed the presence of some distinguished guests including Mr. Yumin Song, the Consul General of P.R. China in Melbourne, Mr. Jiang Zhao, the Head of Education Office of the Consulate General of P.R. China in Melbourne, Prof. Min Gu, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology, Prof. Chengqi Zhang, Fellow of Australian Computer Society and Member of College, Australian Research Council (ARC), University of Technology, Sydney, and many senior academic researchers from The University of Melbourne, Monash University, Swinburne University of Technology, RMIT University, Deakin University, La Trobe University. The attendance also includes senior experts and representatives from industrial organizations and government agencies.
The upcoming 8th VACPS Research Symposium covers six areas:
- Biomedical and Health Sciences
- Architecture and Civil Engineering
- Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
- Computer Science and Electrical Engineering
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Management, Business and Social Sciences
Papers for oral/poster contributions related to the above areas are invited. Please submit your paper through EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=vacps2014) by 08 November 2014. All manuscripts will be peer reviewed. For more information about the paper submission, please see ‘Submission Guide for Authors’section in attachment.
This year, CAPS Australia will organise a challenging competition --- “3-Minute Oral Presentation”. Candidates will present their projects to non-professional audiences within three minutes using only one PPT slide. A big prize, Return Flight Tickets from Melbourne to China, will be awarded to the best speaker chosen by panels. In addition, another great award ($200 gift card) called “People’s Choice” will be selected according to audients’ favourite. In order to participate into this competition, your must submit a paper through EasyChair and select the “Also Submit to 3-Minute Presentation Competition” option as well.
